Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Communications Manager PSJH.

As a key leader within the Communication Department, this position will work closely with Swedish and Providence Health Services senior leadership, Human Resources Departments as well as other internal partners and stakeholders to develop compelling communications on a variety of sensitive and general topics using a multiple digital and communications platforms and tools. The individual in this position serves as a culturally competent leader that communicates, edits, and manages content in way that intentionally integrates diversity, equity and inclusion principles at all times. The position serves as managing editor of the hospital’s intranet, and internal newsletter, and will oversees the work of the Internal Communications Specialists, interns and, as needed, contractors. The position provides and manages internal writing and presentations, including but not limited to e-mail communications, correspondence, scripts and other communique presenting information to employees on behalf of Swedish executives, core leaders and internal stakeholders. With responsible for keeping the employees and management teams informed on issues that affect performance in the workplace, the Internal Communications Manager plays a key role in Swedish operations in an effort to engage employees and communicate information that provides value while positioning employees for success.

In addition, the individual in this role helps internal customers and departments appropriately publicize information internally through available means, and ensures all internal communication platforms remain fresh, readable and relevant to staff, caregivers and key internal stakeholders. Working closely with Swedish Foundation, Swedish Marketing and Swedish Community Investment teams and other groups to internally promote and communicate the external work of these groups, especially those who have a major impact in the communities in which Swedish serves, as well as the communities in which caregivers and staff reside. In support of strategic employee engagement, in partnership with and service to Human Resources, the Internal Communication Manager promotes initiatives and projects that impact employee job satisfaction among Swedish caregivers and staff, by administering surveys and polls as well as arranging dynamic team building activities that bring employees together and bolster work performance and morale.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support strategy, planning and execution for communication plans and programs, major organizational campaigns and initiatives related to public relations, reputation management, organizational communication, social media and executive communication.

  • Proven ability to work independently writing, crating and implementing high--quality communication plans, messaging and copy that meets PSJH standards.

  • Oversee, manage and measure effectiveness of key communication projects and initiatives, including employee/caregiver communication, executive communication, public relations media relations, issues/crisis management, thought leadership and social media/influencer strategies to promote and enhance the reputation of PSJH and our family of organizations.

  • Support and enhance the quality of all communication tools and channels to ensure communication is delivered consistently and proactively to all caregivers.   • Support measurable improvements in caregiver engagement, based on established standards. Ensure the organizational voice and narrative, and Mission, Vision, and Values of PSJH, including the culture and charisma of our founding congregations, are present in all communication efforts.

  • Reinforce, enhance and grow the organizational voice and narrative of Providence St. Joseph Health through consistent, proactive communication sharing. Reinforce and strengthen our identity as a Catholic Health Care ministry.

  • Work closely with mission integration to ensure communications are reflective of our Catholic identity and our Mission, Vision, and Values. Provide ongoing strategic communication counsel and support.

  • Ensure alignment of organizational and regional/ministry messaging and communication programs. Manage, monitor and improve the delivery of information and messaging to caregivers and other audiences.

  • Work closely with marketing and communication leadership at the system and regional level to coordinate messaging and positioning across audiences.

  • Perform to budget and sustainability goals.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, journalism, business administration or related field.

  • Minimum of five(5) demonstrated management experience in broad-based and successful communication programs.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Communication experience in health care

  • Experience in a faith-based health system/organization.
