Providence is calling a Director Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety, MSA (Risk Management, Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Lead High Performance Work Groups: Gain the trust of work groups by being honest and consistent, keeping commitments, exchanging ideas openly, and providing support. Provides timely guidance and feedback to help work groups improve their performance results. Builds a cohesive, high-performing work group by clarifying accountabilities, involving the group in decisions, and providing resources. Sets high standards and accountability for continuous improvement in work group performance. Inspires high levels of group performance by communicating and modeling the organization’s Mission and Values.
Manage Strategy: Establish plans to execute organizational strategy by prioritizing and assigning tasks, resources, and accountabilities. Makes customers’ needs the primary focus when executing strategy. Analyzes information, generates alternatives, and commits to daily decisions that are consistent with the organization’s strategies.
Align Work Group with New or Evolving Organizational Paradigms: Encourages the acceptance and execution of the organization’s vision. Influences others to commit to action that organizational vision. Establishes performance objectives, tracks and evaluates performance to align behavior with the organization’s vision. Communicates and models the organizational vision in a way that motivates others to take action toward that vision.
Lead the Implementation of New Business Alliances/ Partnerships: Pursues opportunities to build mutually beneficial relationships with strategic business partners. Persuades business or alliance partners to take action that will enhance the organization’s competitive advantage. Gains the trust of business partners by being honest and consistent, keeping commitments, exchanging ideas openly, and treating them with respect.
Model the Values and Behavioral Standards: Encourages the acceptance and execution of the organization’s Values and behavioral standards. Influences others to commit to action that supports the organization’s Values and behavioral standards. Establishes performance objectives, tracks and evaluates performance to align behavior with the organization’s Values. Provide leadership and oversight for Patient Safety/HRO, Clinical Risk Management, Claims Management and Patient Grievance Management
Provide strategic leadership for MSA to ensure that priorities are developed and standards are met as mandated by pertinent regulatory bodies.
Participate on committees and projects of the System as assigned and aligns MSA activities with System priorities and objectives.
Direct creation and monitoring of ministry budgets for the departments that the position is responsible for.
Provide administrative leadership support to the MSA Community Ministry Board subcommittee on Quality and Safety, WMSA Quality and Safety Committee, and Medical Staff committees as appropriate.
Assure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of safety indicators developing profiles to analyze patterns and trends related to quality and performance improvement activities.
Establish organization structure for Risk Management, and Patient Safety functions.
Provide operations and strategic leadership for the reporting, analysis and information to support MSA for Risk Management and Patient Safety functions.
Manage business alliances/partnerships to create a win-win relationship and competitive advantage.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in BSN or other clinical background AND Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or other related field.
Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of Montana required if applicable to degree.
Five (5) years progressively responsible experience related to their areas of responsibility, including at least 3 years of management experience.
Three (3) years experience in healthcare, hospital, medical group, managed care, and/or health plan management.
Preferred qualification for this position include:
Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Four (4) years prior clinical nursing management, customer relations and/or patient outcomes experience.
Three (3) years RN experience or other clinical background, clinical quality experience, clinical informatics a plus, Clinical effectiveness training.
