Providence is calling an Electrophysiology Technologist (Cardiac Cath Lab, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Correctly scrubs, monitors and circulates on the following procedures: Electrophysiology Studies, Catheter Ablation (radiofrequency) - Atrial Fibrillation Supraventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Cardiac Mapping, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator, Implantable Loop Recorder, Pacemaker/ICD Pocket Closure Suture and Dressing, Laser Lead Extraction, Structural Heart - Left Atrial Appendage Closure, Pericardiocentesis, Cardioversion, Tilt Table, Transesophageal Echo, Intracardiac Echo, Insertion of Arterial/Venous Line, Central Line, Swan-Ganz, Vas Cath under the guidance of the physician, Sheath Removal and Puncture Site Dressing.
Utilizes double patient identifiers, checks patient name and date of birth, allergy bands/blood bands.
Work as a team member, assist physicians and assist with interpretation of data collected.
Notify physician of rhythm changes during procedure.
Knows location of necessary equipment and supplies.
Stock procedure rooms and maintains appropriate par stock levels.
Maintain radiation safety for patient and visitors, reduces radiation through utilization of radiation shields.
Wear radiation protection (lead apron) and dosimetry badge.
Check personal radiation protection (lead apron) annually, documenting results and notifying supervisor of defective equipment.
Perform fluoroscopy and documents fluoro time and mGy, alerts physician every 15 minutes of fluoro use/time, under the direction of the Physician.
Participate in prodedure Time Out - "stopping/pausing" activities performed during Time Out session.
Maintain accurate chart documentation and charge capture (ensures procedures and supplies are correct on charge sheet) and supplies are captured through inventory management control application to ensure automatic reorder of supplies utilized.
Accurately interpret EKG's per sensing and capturing, rhythm recognition and Intracardiac Electrocardiograms.
Witness drug waste with Registered Nurse.
Operate medical equipment according to manufacturer's instructions, oximeter, cardiac stimulator, radio frequency generator, cardiac mapping and ultrasound systems, inventory management system.
Trouble shoots equipment per malfunction and enter Biomedical work order request for evaluation. If equipment is malfunctioning apply appropriate equipment "not in use" tag for visual management and technologist/patient safety.
Adapt communication style and teaching to appropriate age ranges of patient population. Provides patient education per procedure types.
Maintain sterile technique, appropriate sterile tray preparation/set up and draping.
Participate in department Process Improvement activities and standard work.
Attend department in-services as scheduled to maintain and complete annual competencies.
Know location of department policies and procedures.
Collaborate intradepartmentally to help ensure a cohesive work environment.
Maintain continuing education credits to hold an active registry status.
Perform delegated duties as requested.
Required qualifications this position include:
Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular or Radiographic technology
Either National Registry as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI) or alternatively a Registered Radiologic Technology (ARRT) licensed through the Montana Board of Radiologic Technologists.
RT license required, if ARRT.
National registry as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist or a Registered Radiologic Technologist in good standing with ARRT with the Montana Board of Radiologic Technologists.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) -(Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
2 years experience in a cardiovascular laboratory.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year Special procedures or Cath Lab experience.
Electrophysiology technologist experience.
