Providence Health & Services RN Referral Line Coordinator in Missoula, Montana

Description:

Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Line Coordinator (Emergency Department, Day Shift, 0.6 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:

  • Coordinate transfer of patients to St. Patrick Hospital (SPH) ED to ED, ED to IP, IP to IP, etc.

  • Report and document any unusual patient or administrative occurrence that may have an effect on the patient’s and/or staff’s well being(*).

  • Accept and answer all referral line calls from referring agencies, clinics and physicians.

  • Obtain necessary information to allow for appropriate clinical placement.

  • Obtaining information in a positive and courteous manner.

  • Coordinate connection of sending provider with accepting provider in a seamless manner following appropriate protocols.

  • Coordinate transport mechanism for transfer of patient.

  • Give complete and accurate report to licensed staff upon completion of tasks and duties.

  • Give complete and accurate reports to house supervisor throughout the shift and on coming shift.

  • Maintain the records and information for each transfer, ensuring that all required documents and results are properly posted and documented in appropriate tracking software.

  • Assist with transfers to other hospitals as needed.

  • Perform clerical duties related to admission, transfers and discharges.

  • Constantly monitor bed availability, communicating with house supervisor regarding divert status.

  • Ensure physician has admitting privileges prior to accepting admission.

  • Answer multiple and/or designated telephone lines, prioritizes and manages calls.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in use and application of all electronic tools.

  • Coordinate and complete patient call back process for designated departments.

  • Appropriately track data and trends related to all responsibilities.

  • Provide clear and thorough documentation based on established department standards.

  • Seek out information and resources and uses creative problem solving for complex issues.

  • Assist the Health Information Management.

  • Assist the Manager with special projects including PI, policy development, etc.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Current RN licensure in Montana State

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • One (1) year prior experience in related position.
